A good day (minus 1 knuckle) fettling the ride on the Esprit today. Both front dampers removed, cleaned and adjusters freed off. Amazing what a difference a couple of turns on the spring plates does. Still not perfect but the extra preload combined with a couple of clicks softer at the rear and a good few turns softer on the front = much better. Doesn't corner like a roller skate on mega smooth tarmac (1% of any driving around here) now but my fillings are still in tact and drives far better on the local pot hole filled roads. Also far less clunks and bangs. Tomorrows lovely job is cleaning of the dreaded ABS pressure switch to hopefully sort the intermittent blink and compressor run every pedal push issue.

As a by the way, for thoese that follow my adventures with my Esprit, you may remember me trying to drain the original gearbox and finding that there wasnt any oil in it!! Thus knackering the whole gearbox. I had a look to see if I could use the unit from it and found this---- I guess it generated some heat!!!

Rear hatch from my Evora S. Glass removed and replaced with gf Louvre panel. Complete with rear brake light. Currently grey and black. So the car started with the bouncing speedo syndrome. Not for long however because it them packed up completely. I ws a bit surprised because I changed the cable when I did all the work on the interior. I checked at the instrument end and all is well. At the gearbox end, the 'extension' seems to be the culprit. (from the speedo angled drive into the gearbox.) On taking it out the square threaded inner is worn and looks as if it will need replacing. Can you get just that or will I have to buy the complete unit? On dismantling the unit the bl**dy knurled cog fell into the gearbox. Nice. So have had to remove the rear plate. I have had a look on SJ's website but cannot find any reference to these bits. Any idea what they would come under? I looked at speedo drive ands gearbox but nothing.

My old girl has just had a mast cell tumour removed from her back. This is the 7th time she's been under the knife. She's 9 years old and I'm always amazed by how quickly she recovers. My wallet may be empty but my heart remains full of love

She is on the road (at last). Picked her up on Monday at Ramspott & Brandt for her first drive. They did a great job fixing the basics and an even better job with the gearbox and turbos. Thanks to the ECU race chip and all she is now making around 450 HP. A bit of fiddling by Komotec with the ride height and some geo setting yesterday and the new wheels are no longer scraping. Interior was detailed today, looking as god as new. Incredible how much dirt can hide in leather and carpets. Adding lightness by cleaning. Next up is rejoining the wing club, i.e. fitting the custom high wing. Thne up to the foiler for the design and PPF.
